Near perfect race day. Our departure from Litchfield started off rainy but by the time we arrived the rain was gone. Temperatures were in the upper 40s. Not too bad! Fast flat course and a lot of participants. Half Marathon: Angee, Bill, & Meghan 10K: Cory & Mark ARRIVAL LINE UP Where's Waldo? Half way... Angee's finish! FIT-to-GO Half & 10K finishers Way to go on all sub-2hr Half Marathon times!! Busy weekend! Today a group of us completed the Springfield Frostbite 10 mile run. While the temperature held at a comfortable 50 degrees before later dropping, the wind was wild. Deemed as the most difficult course in Illinois, the hills made this race a very challenging run. Congrats to Mark & Bill on their first long distance race!! Great job team!
Nice turn out this morning for the Litchfield Jingle Bell Jog 5k. The December weather turned out to be lovely, though a bit of a head wind the first half of the course. Congratulations to all the FIT-to-GOers, family, and friends! Job well done!! Congrats to all of our FIT-to-GOers & friends completing the St. Louis 1/2 Marathon!! Meghan. Cory. Angee. Maleah. Lori. Brian. Laura. Dawn. Amy. Arrival amongst 21,000 runners! At the starting line....10,000 people back. Angee is running by us so fast...she is just a blur. Congrats on your first Half, girl!!! guilt free pumpkin donut Maleah didn't look like she had even broke a sweat Sugar Ray. 21,000 runners plus thousands of spectators and there are maybe 300 people listening. Guess the 90s were it for them. ;) I am smiling. So, we are now 3 weeks post triathlon and I am just now getting this entry in, so I apologize. :) Nonetheless, the 2011 Litchfield TriathLou went great! It took place September 17th. And in-spite of the common fear that it was going to be a bit chilly, weather was perfect! FIT-to-GO had a great turn-out amongst the one hundred something participants (the total number of participants keeps changing, I am guessing somewhere around 150 maybe). We had 7, including self, participate. Angee, Mark, and Sheila competed as a co-ed team in the sprint division. Lori, Bill, Cara and I as individuals in the sprint division. For those of you curious about what the sprint distance entails: .25 swim, 13 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run. PRE-RACE RACE POST RACE Sheila receiving trophy/mugs for 1st place co-ed champs! Go team! Wheh! That was exhausting!!!
Here are some pictures from the TriGreenville Triathlon on July 2nd. Bill competed as an individual. Jake, Sheila, and I competed as a team. Jake swam. Sheila rode. I ran. Hot day, tough course! But overall we all did an awesome job!!! AND our Coed team won!!! fine print: We were the only team competing by the way! Haha! *wink
Congrats to all of our FIT-to-GO Friends who participated in the 2011 GO St. Louis Half-Marathon this past Sunday!! A Super BIG Thumbs Up to Jo Anna and Shannon for completing their first half-marathon!! Way to go Paula & Mike! This is Paula's third year now completing the St. Louis Half. You go girl!!! Lori and Meghan The Freedom Fun Run on July 3rd had a great turn-out with over 140 people participating. It was well organized and the course was a nice layout. It was a beautiful morning with a conditions perfect for a summer race. Took me a couple of days to get this blog posted. I, personally, am still recovering from the 3rd. It has to be the longest recovery I've ever had from a run. I woke up that morning sick and throwing up. I thought, oh well...it must be morning sickness, I will just eat some toast and then can just run it off. Uh, no. That had to be the hardest 3.1 miles of my life. I had a slight feeling when I tossed my cookies again towards the end of the race that it might not be my normal "green-in-the-face" feeling I have been having for the past 3 weeks. In spite of running with a stomach bug, I still managed to finish and place third in my age category. I am pretty proud...that is maybe that hardest I have ever pushed myself. I also I have to say I am very proud of all of our FIT-to-GOers, runners and walkers. ALL of our runners placed in their age categories. Lori-1st in her category, her husband-1st in his category, her daughter 1st overall female (awesome!); Paula-2nd in her category, her husband-1st in his category; and Dr. Epplin-1st in his category. Great job everyone!!! Oh, yeah...for those of you who haven't been in the gym in a while. Cory and I are expecting! (In case you didn't get it from the "morning sickness" comment above.)
My hubby, Cory, with our boys, Elijah & Isaiah I do not work on Saturdays...and I do not workout on Saturdays. My family and I observe the Sabbath. It is my ONLY day off each week. Well, since it was for a good cause we went ahead and did the 5K Fun Run/Walk to benefit the Parents for Pre-K. Afterall, Elijah just finished up his 2 years their and Isaiah will be heading there in 2011. It is a great program. We have been so impressed the past 2 years how much Pre-K has allowed Elijah to grow and learn. So, yesterday my husband and I loaded the boys up for the fun run in support of keeping our Litchfield Pre-K. Cory took Isaiah in the Baby Jogger. And I just thought I would take it easy and coach Elijah through a little walking/running interval workout. Yeah, it didn't go how I planned....AT ALL. So much for an easy stroll. We didn't get about 20 feet away from the starting line and I Elijah says to me, "I don't feel like walking." What??? We have 3 miles to go!!! About a year ago the kid ran an entire 1 mile non-stop with me...Elijah ALWAYS has a ton of energy. Well, not yesterday. So after about a quarter mile more of me dragging him by the hand, I threw him on my back. Yup, and we finished the almost the whole thing with my almost 5 year old, 50lb boy riding piggy-back. He walked maybe 2 other times, but for a matter of minutes before I heard in a whiny voice, "I am tired." I have learned my lesson. Aside from the sweat in my eyes and my aching legs, it was a good time and the event appeared to have a great turn out. :) |
