Tour de Donut 2010, Stauton, Illinois - What another beautiful day for a race! Sunny, mildly warm, and a nice breeze were the conditions for today. The event brought in more than 1400 people from all over...including some all the way from Poland. FIT-to-GO had our own team with 9 of us riding. This was my first bike race and I loved it. Sheila and I stuck together for the 30.4 miles. We were both kind of nervous being it was both our first race. We were both surprised that it really wasn't bad at all. Those Indoor Cycling classes have finally proven very valuable. While a bicycle is a bit different then an indoor cycle, those are still the same muscles you need to climb a hill. :) And boy, there were some hills! We haven't received our official time yet, but my GPS came up with something around 2 hours 45 minutes...of course, after consuming a couple donuts we will get some time knocked off our total time. For every donut you eat, there are so many minutes that are deducted from your final time. I was pretty proud to eat 2. :) And I have to admit, they were pretty yummy too. I think I'll be back for more next year...maybe I'll come a little hungrier too. ;)

Lori and Meghan The Freedom Fun Run on July 3rd had a great turn-out with over 140 people participating. It was well organized and the course was a nice layout. It was a beautiful morning with a conditions perfect for a summer race. Took me a couple of days to get this blog posted. I, personally, am still recovering from the 3rd. It has to be the longest recovery I've ever had from a run. I woke up that morning sick and throwing up. I thought, oh well...it must be morning sickness, I will just eat some toast and then can just run it off. Uh, no. That had to be the hardest 3.1 miles of my life. I had a slight feeling when I tossed my cookies again towards the end of the race that it might not be my normal "green-in-the-face" feeling I have been having for the past 3 weeks. In spite of running with a stomach bug, I still managed to finish and place third in my age category. I am pretty proud...that is maybe that hardest I have ever pushed myself. I also I have to say I am very proud of all of our FIT-to-GOers, runners and walkers. ALL of our runners placed in their age categories. Lori-1st in her category, her husband-1st in his category, her daughter 1st overall female (awesome!); Paula-2nd in her category, her husband-1st in his category; and Dr. Epplin-1st in his category. Great job everyone!!! Oh, yeah...for those of you who haven't been in the gym in a while. Cory and I are expecting! (In case you didn't get it from the "morning sickness" comment above.)
